Emmanuël Pleijers studied church music, choral-
and orchestral conducting at the
Maastricht-school of
Music
and the
Royal-Academy of Music in Liege.
He has trained several choirs for the Limburg
Symphony
Orchestra(LSO),
the Great Broadcasting
Chorus(Groot
omroepkoor) and the
Maastricht-school of Music,
including
the following choral works:
Trois Nocturnes
by Debussy
and Barbe Bleu by Offenbach.
He trained the Broadcasting Chorus to perform:
Mozart’s
Requiem
(Jaap van Zweden),
Haydns Creation(Frans
Brüggen)and Fauré’s
Requiem(Schlomo Mintz).
At the
Royal Opera of Wallonia he assisted Patrik
Baton with
La Traviata
and Don Pasquale.
He was chorus master at
Opera Zuid and trained
the choir for
the
following operas:
L' amour des trois
Oranges, Don Giovanni,
Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci,
Madama Butterfly,
Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Cosi fan
Tutte, Carmen and
Macbeth, as well as being assistant to Jun'Ichi Hirokami.
At the Opera Comique in Maastricht he conducted
Les Saltimbaques
by Louis Ganne
and Les Cloches des Corneville by Robert Planquette.
At the Mozart Festival in Heerlen (2000) he
conducted a concert(opera)
and the
oratorio Samson by Händel.
At the Euriade Festival 2001 he conducted La tragédie de Carmen
of Marius Constant.
He taught choral conducting at the SNK in Utrecht
and at the
music school
in Beek.
He was also a member of the NSGV,where he was promoting the
importance of church music.
He is the conductor of the
Heerlens Oratorium
Choir,
the
Sittards Mannenkoor "Si-tard",
the
Koninklijk Mannenkoor Cecilia 1837 uit Vaals,
as well as some other choirs.
